Oysters Get Gritty, 2-1 Win
|
The Chesapeake Bay Oysters got a magnificent performance from pitcher Hidekazu Suzuki, who muffled the Evansville offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Oysters win at Tri-Staters Ballpark. The winner in relief was Sergio Rivera. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 2-2. The Tri-Staters drop to 9-12, as their stumbling start to the 2042 season continues.
Chesapeake Bay used the timely hitting of Ernesto Puente to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Oysters on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"All in all, I thought Hidekazu pitched a fine game for us tonight," said Chesapeake Bay manager John Mayer.
