Tri-Staters Get One-Run Win at Fayetteville
|
Ballpark of Fayetteville was the site for Appalachian Mountain League action featuring the Fayetteville Braggarts and Evansville Tri-Staters.
The Evansville Tri-Staters defeated the Fayetteville Braggarts, 2-1, in Appalachian Mountain League action at Ballpark of Fayetteville. Evansville pitcher Barney Stone had a standout performance. Stone got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Manuel Gonzáles wrapped it up, recording his 2nd save.
Evansville used the timely hitting of Corey Thompson to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tri-Staters ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Stone said.
The win leaves Evansville with a record of 8-8.
