Mansfield Wins, Daniels slugs 2 home runs
|
Mansfield catcher Derek Daniels played a vital role in his team's 8-2 conquest of Beantown. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for Mansfield. Ralph Bonilla got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 9 and walking 1. Picking up the save was Bob Simms, his 1st.
Daniels contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Mansfield in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Daniels took a slider from Yosai Kudo and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Mohicans to leap in front, 3-1.
"At the end of the day, wins and losses are really the only thing that matters," said Daniels.
With the win, Mansfield improves its record to 6-8.
