Oysters Reel In 5-2 Win

The Chesapeake Bay Oysters and Clifton Dons squared off at Clifton Stadium.
The Chesapeake Bay Oysters knocked off the Clifton Dons, 5-2, in Appalachian Mountain League action at Clifton Stadium. Chesapeake Bay pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Fernando Fierro had an outstanding performance. The winner was Fierro. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Naofumi Yamaguchi. Eppe Dirks earned the save, his 3rd.
Guillermo Fernández dealt the Dons a blow in the top of the seventh. Batting with the bases loaded and Chesapeake Bay leading 3-2, Fernández hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"Fernando was Fernando," said Oysters manager John Mayer. "He gave it all he's got."
Chesapeake Bay goes to 5-3.
