Tri-Staters Throttled by Locomotives, 3-0
|
In a low-scoring contest, Leeds pitcher Dan O'Halloran was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-0 win. O'Halloran, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Evansville is 2-1 after the defeat.
Louie Hackman had a big 2-run home run for the Locomotives in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Leeds leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a splitter from 29-year old left-handed pitcher Euan MacKinlay and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Locomotives on top, 3-0.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said O'Halloran.
