Riding the 4-hit performance of left fielder Ichiro Ishida, the Niigata Gigans got a road win against the Grand Rapids Rafters, 8-5, in Game 4 of the Championship. Ishida was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Gigans, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Brett Moore was at the plate when Niigata scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Gigans to go in front, 6-5.

"This team is championship material," Ishida told BNN reporters after the game. "I can see it when I look around the clubhouse. We've still got a long way to go, but I know this team."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Grand Rapids Grounds in Grand Rapids.
