Vulcans Clip Swamp Dragons, 2-1, in R1 Contest
|
The Mauna Loa Vulcans and the Osakasayama Swamp Dragons will take the Wild Card to a decisive 5th game. The Vulcans got a dramatic walk-off victory in a must-win situation to beat the Swamp Dragons, 2-1, at Recoil Stadium and force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Mauna Loa left-hander Jesús Torres had a sizable impact in the win. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball.
Nicky Desforges was the walk-off hero for Mauna Loa. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Vulcans designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"When Jesús is on, he can really move the ball around," said Mauna Loa manager Juan Flores.
The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 26th , 2042 at Swamp Dragons Ballpark in Osakasayama.
