Osakasayama Swamp Dragons manager Shingen Okamoto knew it was a gamble to give the start to a rookie. It was a good gamble to take.

Pitching in front of a hostile crowd, 20-year-old right-hander Louis Notenboom silenced the host Mauna Loa Vulcans at Recoil Stadium. The Swamp Dragons shut out the Vulcans by a final score of 2-0, to give the Swamp Dragons a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Wild Card.

Osakasayama starter Louis Notenboom pitched like a boss. The 6-foot-4 right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 8.1 innings.

Notenboom called the win "a team effort."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Recoil Stadium in Captain Cook.
