The Osakasayama Swamp Dragons started the Wild Card in style, downing the visiting Mauna Loa Vulcans at Swamp Dragons Ballpark by a score of 8-3 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Swamp Dragons left fielder Kazunari Kawano was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

Jo-hsi Kau, who is rated as the 46th best prospect by BNN, helped out the Osakasayama cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the third baseman drew 2 walks.
