Almost There: Narragansett On Cusp of R3 Triumph After 1-0 Win
|
Roy Little pitched a gem to help the Narragansett Seagulls escape with a tight 1-0 victory over the Delaware Diamonds in a low-scoring Championship contest today. The right-handed Little threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Seagulls on a day when their offense dried up. Narragansett now leads the best-of-7 series 3-1.
Had José Aguilera not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Aguilera hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Seagulls.
"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Narragansett manager Iwao Sanu told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Championship, it's only going to get harder."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Deleware in Wilmington.
