Peer Talboom sparked his Niigata Gigans past the pesky Yokohama Plumbers in a closely-contested Divisional.
Niigata topped Yokohama 4-2 at Gigans Ballpark to decide the series, 4-2
For his efforts, Talboom was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .360 batting average, 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
"You never want to leave anything on the field," Talboom said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win."
The Championship matchups and schedule will be announced after the Divisional finishes.
