Closing In: Niigata Nears R3 With Dramatic Game 4 Win
The Niigata Gigans got a strong game from starter Esteban Rincón, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.

The Gigans took the 3-2 win over the Yokohama Plumbers in Game 4 of the Divisional in a 9th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the left-handed Rincón. Rincón threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, which gave the Gigans a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Niigata first baseman Leonard Ryan, facing Zenko Okada, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Gigans the 3-2 win.

Rincón said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gigans Ballpark in Niigata.
