Kono Ks 12, Salmon Top Gunslingers in Extra Innings to Tie Series
|
The Ketchikan Salmon went the distance and then some at Ballpark of Dawson City to drag themselves back into a tie with the Dawson City Gunslingers.
It took 10 innings to settle Game 2 of the Divisional, but Ketchikan eventually took the 3-2 win behind the efforts of pitcher Jun Kono. Kono threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball to aid the Ketchikan cause. The clubs are now tied 1-1 in their best-of-5 series.
The Salmon liked what they saw from Kono. The 22-year- old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Gunslingers to 1 run on 2 hits over 7 innings, and striking out 12.
Ketchikan manager Ricardo Pérez praised his team's "businesslike approach."
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Spectres Ballpark in Ketchikan.
