With third baseman Joseph Sellers leading the charge, the Kailua Hanso defeated the Shirakawa Halberds, 3-2, at Blue Birds Ballpark. Sellers was 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times. Dennis Cochran nailed down his 13th save. The loss makes Shirakawa 39-71.
The Hanso got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jorge Figueroa. For the game, Figueroa was 2-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 9th double of the season gave Kailua a 2-1 lead.
"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Kailua manager Akio Kouno.
