Hoops Victors, 7-3, at Osakasayama
|
Though he had a terrific game, Yunosuke Matsumoto could not prevent his team, the Osakasayama Swamp Dragons, from absorbing a loss. Hilo won the game, 7-3. Matsumoto was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ed Schultz picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-1. Louis Notenboom, who is tied for 6th in the HL in strikeouts with 125, was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Hoops sit at 57-51.
The Hoops got a big at-bat from right fielder Kokei Takahashi. For the game, Takahashi went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Hilo a 4-2 lead.
"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," Takahashi said. "And the same is true when you lose."
