Osakasayama Defeated by Kilauea, 8-6
|
The Kilauea Volcanoes knocked off the Osakasayama Swamp Dragons, 8-6, in Hawaiian League action at Foresters Ballpark. Kilauea pitcher and Koyang, South Korea, native Hyo-jin Cho had an outstanding performance. José Martínez picked up the win in relief for Kilauea, while Jesús Alonso took the loss. Quirino Drdio closed it out for his 1st save.
Thal, Switzerland-born Matthias Wasser came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Volcanoes trailing 6-5, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Kilauea on top.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Kilauea skipper Chris Simpson.
The Volcanoes move to 25-80 with the win.
