Twice as Nice: South Kamloops HS Extends Lead to 2-0 With Walk-off Win
|
The South Kamloops HS Colossus got a strong game from starter Pedro Álvarez, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Colossus took the 2-1 win over the Nassau HS Coasters in Game 2 of the Round 1 in a 9th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the left-handed Álvarez. Álvarez threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball in the win, which gave the Colossus a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
South Kamloops HS got a knockout punch from Conor Sandhoff. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"We haven't stopped playing," Nassau HS manager Muneyaki Koga said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, April 28th , 2041 at Nassau Ballpark in Nassau.
