Nene Lose at Home, 3-2, to Mauna Loa
|
Mauna Loa Vulcans starter Jesús Torres turned in a sparkling performance against the Waimalu Nene, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Mauna Loa reliever Mike Martínez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jonathan Winkley absorbed the loss. By defeating Waimalu, the second-place Vulcans improved to 58-42.
Mauna Loa used the timely hitting of Adrián Casas to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Vulcans on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Jesús kept his poise and got the job done," said Mauna Loa manager Juan Flores. "He was outstanding."
