Reins Suffer 5-2 Setback
|
The Gakidou Onryou knocked off the Calexico Reins, 5-2, in Baja Cali League action at Gakidou Fields. Gakidou pitcher and Canberra, Australia, native Bronson Leseberg had an outstanding performance. Leseberg, now 7-6, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. Simon Hasted earned the save for Gakidou, his 11th.
The Reins had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Onryou going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old center fielder Vicente Saldaña came to the plate. Saldaña hit a 2-run double on a 3-1 curveball from Calexico hurler Kane Cuttle. It was Saldaña's 9th double of the year.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Saldaña.
Gakidou is now 57-62.
