|
Luis Núñez was nothing short of phenomenal for the Kailua Hanso. The 23-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Osakasayama Swamp Dragons, 7-1. Dan Elmore notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 6-3. The win puts Kailua at 55-44 this season.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Soetsu Tanaka came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Osakasayama pitcher Jesús Alonso, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Kailua on top, 2-1.
"Luis was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Kailua manager Akio Kouno.
