Fireflies Handed 5-1 Loss by Yasu
|
Yasu pitcher Keith Russell had a large part in his team subduing the Kobayashi Fireflies, 5-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. At 44-56, the Storks claim 4th place in the Hawaiian League Ninja.
Bob Simpson had a big bases-clearing triple for the Storks in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Yasu leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Tyler Brown and swatted a triple to left. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Storks ahead, 5-1.
"Keith set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Yasu manager Toshiki Soh.
