The Mauna Loa Vulcans beat the Hilo Hoops, 7-3, at Recoil Stadium. The Vulcans got a fine performance from right fielder Motoki Kouda, who went 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 2. Mauna Loa goes to 56-42, Hilo to 51-47.

The Vulcans got a big at-bat from center fielder Gary Christian. For the game, Christian went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Mauna Loa a 3-0 lead.
