Mahi-Mahi Earn Clutch Win, 3-2
|
In a tight contest between the Maui Mahi-Mahi and the Kauai Monsters, Manny Gallegos was the determining factor. The Maui left-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. Maui reliever Kelvin Agar picked up the win to move to 1-0. Emmett Rowe suffered the loss. Hidehira Otani got credit for the save for Maui. It was his 11th of the year.
Roger Lowry helped out the Maui cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the catcher was 1 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Gallegos said.
The loss makes Kauai 59-39.
