Vulcans Bounce Volcanoes, 3-2
|
Mauna Loa beat Kilauea in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Mauna Loa Vulcans locked up a win at Foresters Ballpark, knocking off the Kilauea Volcanoes, 3-2. On the mound for Mauna Loa was left-hander Jesús Torres. He played a major role in the triumph. Robbie Lane was credited with the save, his 22nd in 27 tries.
Mauna Loa used the timely hitting of Ty Raines to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Vulcans ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Jesús had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Mauna Loa manager Juan Flores.
With the win, the Vulcans have a record of 55-40.
