Monsters Defeat Halberds, 5-1
|
Kauai Monsters starter Tomás Blanco pitched his team past the Shirakawa Halberds, 5-1. Lucas Olinger, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 13th save. With the win, Kauai goes to 58-36, while the Halberds fall to 33-61.
The Monsters got an important contribution from left fielder Arthur Hoyes, who in the bottom of the fifth knocked a 2-2 fastball to right-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 4th triple of the season and put the Monsters ahead, 3-1.
"Tomás pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said Kauai manager Hugh Watson.
