Hilo pitcher Manny Gómez did his part in helping his team beat the Kilauea Volcanoes, 8-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Hilo is now 48-44.
Rod O'Neil, who is tied for 9th in the HL in bases on balls with 46, helped out the Hilo cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the left fielder was 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
O'Neil told a Hilo Today reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
