The Ewa Beach Imperialists beat the Lana'i City Pineapples, 9-2. Ewa Beach pitcher and Kakamigahara, Japan, native Tsuginori Sato led the way. Sato, now 8-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The first-place Imperialists now sit at 57-35.
The Imperialists got an important contribution from left fielder Juan Marecle, who in the bottom of the first hit a 1-2 fastball to center for a 2-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Imperialists ahead, 3-0.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Ewa Beach manager Jonathan Cook. "That's what Tsuginori is right now."
