Martínez Goes Off, But Anguirus Win
Ángel Martínez did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Glendale Skyelanders from being beaten, 10-7, to the Shizuoka Anguirus at Ballpark of Shizuoka. Martínez hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Shizuoka pitcher Mal Schmidt got the win, upping his record to 3-4. Abel Bongers got the loss. Pat Smith finished to wrap up his 4th save.

Pedro Rosário cracked a home run off Jimmy Horne in the bottom of the eighth. His grand slam blast put the Anguirus on top, 10-7. In all, Rosário had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Ward Davis.

At 46-90, Shizuoka is in last place in the Rocky Mountain League Pacific.
