The home crowd had a good time watching the Shizuoka Anguirus and Niigata Gigans get after it.

The Niigata Gigans knocked off the Shizuoka Anguirus, 6-4, in Rocky Mountain League action at Gigans Ballpark. Niigata pitcher and Wichita, Kansas, native Steve Erwin had an outstanding performance. Lee Hale recorded the save, his 13th.

Takejiro Takahashi had a big 2-run double for the Gigans in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Niigata leading 4-3 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Yong-gyu Hak, who is tied for 8th in the RML in innings pitched with 168.1, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gigans ahead, 6-3.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Takahashi.

With the win, the Gigans have a record of 74-53.
