Skyelanders Defeat Waxers, 3-1
|
Toby Ayers brought his A-game to help Glendale defeat the Chandler Waxers, 3-1. Glendale reliever Félix González was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Jesús González. The Skyelanders now have a record of 61-67 with the win over Chandler.
Glendale used the clutch hitting of Francisco Salinas to snag the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Skyelanders ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"We gutted it out and got the 'W'," said Salinas.
