Scottish Claymores starter Thomas Connolly pitched a strong game against the San Juan Coqui at PRTC Stadium, leading the Claymores to victory, 8-4. Connolly, the winner, moves to 15-7. He threw 7.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Keiji Honda, credited with the save, is now 19 for 19 in save opportunities.
The Claymores got a gift in the top of the first inning, when they were leading 2-0. With two out and the bases loaded, Gerardo Morales reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. It made the score 3-0, Scottish.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Morales.
The first-place Claymores, at 95-63, now lead their division by 9 games.
