Gigans Curb Sun Dogs, 4-3
|
The Niigata Gigans picked up a win at Gigans Ballpark, downing the Thornton Sun Dogs, 4-3. On the mound for Niigata was left-hander Strom Shuster, who played a pivotal role in the win. Manny Alonso earned the save for Niigata, his 3rd. The Gigans now have a record of 69-52 with the win over Thornton.
Niigata right fielder Abel Randall contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 78th hit of the season and put the Gigans ahead, 3-1.
"Even if things get a little hairy, Strom trusts his ability," said Niigata manager Bill Holt.
