Sun Dogs Top Gigans in Extras, 6-3
|
The Thornton Sun Dogs faced a tough opponent in Niigata pitcher Pedro Zamora, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Gigans Ballpark by a final score of 6-3. Zamora went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Reliever Jin-haeng Yon picked up the win. His record improves to 2-10. Lee Hale, who is tied for 4th in the RML in holds with 8, took the loss. The Sun Dogs, now 64-56, have won 4 in a row.
Thornton used a timely hit from Rocky Kowalski to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sun Dogs ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
"We didn't let this one get away," said Kowalski.
