The bats were silent much of the day at Ballpark of Shizuoka. But 25-year old third baseman José Romero produced just enough offense to carry the Anguirus past the Lincoln Emancipation, 3-2. Romero was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Shizuoka reliever Min-yul Pak was the winner. His record is now 4-4. The losing pitcher was Gael Allmark. The last-place Anguirus are 42-76.
Had Masutaro Ishihara not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Ishihara hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Anguirus.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Lincoln manager Juan Ávila.
