Shao-qi Bu had a strong outing for the Mauna Loa Vulcans against the Lana'i City Pineapples at Recoil Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Bu picked up the win for Mauna Loa, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3. Mike Martínez was credited with the save for Mauna Loa, his 3rd of the season.

The Vulcans got a big hit from shortstop Nicky Desforges. In the bottom of the sixth, Desforges smacked a 2-run home run off Lana'i City pitcher Juan Rúbio. It was his 10th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Vulcans were ahead, 3-2.

"I thought Shao-qi threw the ball well across the board," said Mauna Loa manager Juan Flores.

At 50-34, the Vulcans find themselves in second place in the Hawaiian League Archipelago.
