Virus Do In Olympians, 3-2
|
The El Cajon Virus picked up a win at Ballpark of El Cajon, downing the Nagano Olympians, 3-2. On the mound for El Cajon was right-hander Neil Taylor, who played a pivotal role in the win. Dan Parker was credited with the save for El Cajon, his 8th of the season. El Cajon is 58-48 and Nagano, with the loss, 42-64.
Masahiro Kawamura had a big run-scoring double for the Virus in the bottom of the third inning. With El Cajon leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Contreras and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 24th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Virus ahead, 3-1.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Kawamura told the El Cajon Gazette.
