4-2 Triumph Takes Takaoka to 63-40
|
The Takaoka Shiko topped the El Cajon Virus, 4-2, with first baseman Soren Teeuw playing a big role. Teeuw was 1-2 with 2 walks. He scored 2 runs for the Shiko in the win. Pedro León notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. His record now sits at 5-0. Tokutomi Okumura closed it out for his 24th save.
Norm McDonald had a big 2-run double for the Shiko in the bottom of the second inning. With Takaoka leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from former first round draft pick Gerard Reijssen and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shiko ahead, 4-0.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," McDonald told the Takaoka Times.
The Shiko win now puts them at 63-40.
