Mauna Loa designated hitter Jorge Montalvo had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Montalvo belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, even as Atsumi beat the Vulcans, 9-5. Atsumi reliever José Escobedo was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Robbie Lane. The second-place Autobots are now 44-37, the Vulcans 47-34.

Atsumi got a game-changing hit from Joseph Clark. The right fielder blasted a grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a winner.

"What an ending!" said a jubilant Clark.
