The Hilo Hoops topped the Atsumi Autobots by a score of 5-4. Leading the way was designated hitter Alex James. James went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Hoops. Hilo pitcher Ray Bernard earned the win, hiking his record to 5-5. Vincente Salazar suffered the loss. Picking up the save was José Valdéz, his 2nd.

Hilo grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when James hit a 3-run home run off Vincente Salazar. His 8th home run of the season put the Hoops out in front, 5-4.

"Put the ball in play and good things will happen," said James.

The third-place Hoops now have a record of 39-40.
