Battle Helps Hoops Defeat Autobots, 7-2
|
Behind the hitting of Mike Battle, the Hilo Hoops stopped the Atsumi Autobots, 7-2. Battle hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Hoops. The third-place Hoops now have a win-loss record of 38-40.
Sean Toman had a big 2-run home run for the Hoops in the bottom of the first inning. With Hilo trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Takanobu Rin, who is tied for 8th in the HL in wins with 7, and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Hoops on top, 2-1.
"I thought we played a nice game," Toman told the Hilo Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
