Kauai turned a good performance from starting pitcher Tomás Blanco into a 5-0 triumph over the Ewa Beach Imperialists at Brewers Ballpark. At 46-33, the Monsters are currently first in the Hawaiian League Archipelago.
Abel Parent had a big run-scoring double for the Monsters in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Kauai leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Pedro Espinoza, who is rated as the 31st best prospect by BNN, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Monsters ahead, 2-0.
Blanco said his team "played with determination."
