The Waimalu Nene and Kailua Hanso provided some drama for the home crowd.

In a tight game between the Waimalu Nene and the Kailua Hanso, nobody was more important for the winners than José Ramos. Ramos was masterful in the 2-1 win. Kailua reliever Mario Saucedo was the winner. His record is now 4-5. Jonathan Winkley took the loss. Millard Clark nailed down his 5th save.

Kailua relied on the hitting of Nobuhiko Hayashi to pick up the win. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hanso on top, 2-0. For the game, Hayashi had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We try to keep the mood light around here," said Ramos. "Winning helps."

Kailua, at 41-35, holds down 4th place in the Hawaiian League Aloha.
