James Propels Hilo Offense in 12-3 Rout
The Hilo Hoops had no problem beating the Shirakawa Halberds, 12-3, at Hilo Ballpark. Alex James led the way. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3 for Hilo. Ray Bernard got the win, improving to 4-5. He pitched 8.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 11 and walking 1. The last-place Halberds dropped to 24-50.

With Hilo leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, James hit a fastball from Jorge Aguilar for a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Hoops ahead, 5-0.
