Fireflies Post 4-2 Win

The Kobayashi Fireflies knocked off the Waimalu Nene, 4-2, in Hawaiian League action at Blacksnakes Ballpark. Kobayashi pitcher and Portsmouth, Virginia, native William Cooper had an outstanding performance. Cooper, now 6-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Albert Hayes closed it out for Kobayashi, earning his 12th save.
Robinson López had a big 2-run home run for the Fireflies in the bottom of the first inning. With Kobayashi leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a fastball from António Villarreal, who is tied for 8th in the HL in innings pitched with 90.2, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Fireflies on top, 3-0.
"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Kobayashi manager Eduardo Gonzáles.
The win puts Kobayashi at 37-35 this season.
