Vulcans Post 3-1 Win Over Kauai
|
The Mauna Loa Vulcans got a magnificent effort from pitcher Wanjala Dau, who kept Kauai hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Vulcans win at Brewers Ballpark. Dau got the win, improving to 6-2. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Robbie Lane closed it out for Mauna Loa, earning his 19th save.
Adrián Casas had a big solo home run for the Vulcans in the top of the fifth inning. With Mauna Loa leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Albert Johnson, who is tied for 4th in the HL in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Vulcans on top, 2-0.
"At the end of the day, it's about putting up zeros," said Dau.
The Vulcans, at 43-30, sit in first place in the Hawaiian League Archipelago.
