The Mauna Loa Vulcans beat the Waikiki Coconuts, 8-4, at Recoil Stadium. The win was due in part to designated hitter Jorge Montalvo, who went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Jesús Torres got the win, improving to 6-3. He held the Coconuts to 2 runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. The Vulcans now own a record of 41-30.

With Mauna Loa trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Montalvo hit a cutter from Walt Acosta for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Vulcans ahead, 2-1.
