Getting a good performance from shortstop Akira Hoshino, the Mokule'ia Oceanic defeated the Kobayashi Fireflies, 7-4. Hoshino was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Oceanic. John Reed, who is tied for 5th in the HL with a 9.5 K/9 rate, was the winner. He's now 8-3. The loser was Munro Torr. Doug Brown finished the game for Mokule'ia and earned his 4th save.

Mokule'ia grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Hoshino hit a grand slam home run off Munro Torr. His 9th home run of the season put the Oceanic out in front, 5-1.

"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said Hoshino.

Mokule'ia, at 44-24, holds down first place in the Hawaiian League Aloha.
