Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Brewers Ballpark.

In a well-pitched game between the Mauna Loa Vulcans and the Kauai Monsters, pitcher Glenn Roberts was superb. The Mauna Loa left-hander helped his team win, 1-0, in 10 innings. The third-place Vulcans are 30-36.

Though he did not get the decision, Roberts did all he could to keep his team close, twirling a shutout through 8.1 innings, until Mauna Loa eventually rallied past the Monsters.

"The old adage is true," said Roberts. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
