The Mauna Loa Vulcans beat the Kobayashi Fireflies, 3-1, at Recoil Stadium. Starting pitcher Shao-qi Bu was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The first-place Vulcans improved to 37-26.

Mauna Loa took a 2-1 lead on Ty Raines's 21st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Raines hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Kobayashi pitcher Tyler Brown visibly frustrated.

"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Vulcans manager Juan Flores.
