The Lana'i City Pineapples could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Frank Comelay into a win. Instead, the Maui Mahi-Mahi prevailed, 4-3. Comelay threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The win went to Powell Hollingsworth in relief, making him now 1-1. Ye Yong took the loss for Lana'i City. The win has Maui at 23-41.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Maui pinch hitter Jun'ichiro Kobayashi, facing Maarten Groen, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Mahi-Mahi the 4-3 win.
"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Kobayashi said.
